Murmur is a Canadian docufilm which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2019 and was the directorial debut of filmmaker Heather Young. The film follows the story of Donna, a woman in her fifties facing the consequences of her addiction to alcohol and filling the void of that addiction by adopting pets. The film's bleak cinematic style parallels its exploration of loneliness.

Typography

The focus of this project was exploring different fonts for the move title. After many experimentations, I landed on Forma DJR a digitally redesigned version of Forma by David Jonathan Ross.

Just looking at the typeface alone, it might seem to be a bit boring and very similar to Helvetica. However, paired with the photo it expressed the bleak mood that the director was looking for.

Electronic Presskit

An electronic press kit is a digital compilation of screen captures, production stills and pertinent information about a film that the producer can use when marketing and applying to film festivals.

The film did very well on the festival circuit and garnered many awards including the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI Prize at TIFF 2019.
